How long made to measure blinds take
Our made to measure blinds usually take 2 to 3 weeks from order to fitting. The clock starts once you have chosen your fabrics at the free home consultation and confirmed the order, because each blind is made to the measurements we took at your windows.
Shutters take longer, usually 6 to 10 weeks, and our shutter lead times guide covers those. This page is about rollers, Romans, Venetians, verticals, pleated and similar blinds.

The steps, in order
Each stage is simple, and most of the time is the making itself.
- Book a free home consultation at a time that suits you
- We bring samples, measure every window and leave a written quote
- You confirm the order and the fabrics
- The blinds are made to your sizes
- Our own fitters install them and show you how they work
What can take longer
Some orders need more time. Motorised blinds involve motors, remotes and sometimes a hub, and conservatory roof systems are made as a set. Specialist fabrics can be on longer supply. Very large or unusual shapes need extra care in making. We tell you on the visit if any part of your order is likely to take longer than usual, rather than after you have ordered.
What speeds things up
Decisions are the main thing you control. Having an idea of the rooms and the look you want before the visit, and choosing fabrics while the samples are in front of you, means the order can be placed straight away. Clear access to the windows on fitting day also helps our fitters work quickly.
If you need cover sooner
Moving house, a new baby or a new extension can mean you need privacy or darkness before the made to measure blinds are ready. Temporary blinds can be put up in the meantime. Ask about them on the visit so they can be arranged alongside the order.
On fitting day
Our own fitters install each blind, check it runs smoothly and fix any cords to the wall where required for child safety. We show you how each control works and how to clean the fabric. Our installation carries a 5-year fitting warranty, so if a bracket or headrail needs attention later, we come back.
Why made to measure takes longer than ready made
A ready made blind is already sitting in a box, so it is quick to buy, but it is cut to a standard size and may leave gaps or need trimming. A made to measure blind is built for your window, in the fabric you chose, which is why it fits the recess properly. The wait is the trade for that fit.
The short version
Blinds usually take 2 to 3 weeks from order; temporary blinds can cover the gap.
