How we measure and fit, step by step
People ask for measuring instructions and are usually really asking a different question: how much of this can go wrong, and who carries it if it does. The answer is that we measure, so we carry it. A mis measure is our cost, not yours.
Here is the whole process, from the first visit to the last cleaned sill, so there are no surprises.
The design visit
We come to you with the full sample range: shutter panels, fabric books, Luxaflex demonstration units and Blind Screens. Samples get held against your walls, floors and light, which is the only place a colour decision can honestly be made.
Rough measurements are taken at this visit for pricing. We talk through configuration, stack position, louvre size and controls, then leave a written quote. No deposit, no obligation and no pressure.
- Recess width measured at three heights, drop at three widths, narrowest figure used.
- Every opening checked for square with a diagonal comparison.
- Recess depth checked against the mounting depth the product needs.
- Obstructions logged: handles, trickle vents, tiles, pipe boxing, radiators, tie bars.
The precision survey
Once you order, a second survey is carried out before anything is manufactured. This is the measurement the factory works from, and it is deliberately separate from the sales visit.
On shaped work, arches, circles and angled heads, we template rather than measure, because a number cannot describe a curve that has moved with the building.
Fitting day
Our own employed fitters do the work, never subcontractors. Dust sheets down, existing blinds removed and taken away if you want, new product hung, every panel adjusted and every mechanism tested with you standing there.
Most homes are completed in a single day. Packaging leaves with us. The installation carries a 5 year warranty and the selected shutter ranges carry a lifetime product guarantee.
