The Georgian and Victorian frontages around the Old High Street and Tontine Street rarely give you a square opening. Reveals taper, sills sit out of level and original sashes are often narrower at the top than the bottom. This is where our shaped and tier-on-tier shutter work earns its keep: each panel is built to the measurements we take on the day, so the frame follows the window rather than the window being packed out to suit a stock size.
Folkestone's West End is full of three and five-section bays with deep reveals. Full height shutters with a mid-rail suit these best, because you can close the lower louvres against the pavement and leave the upper set open for light. On bays where a homeowner wants softness rather than timber, Roman blinds in each section give the same privacy line with a warmer finish.
Sea-facing rooms take far more direct light than anything inland, and that light is what eventually tires a fabric. On these windows we steer people towards sunscreen roller fabrics, solid shutters where blackout matters, or a day and night blind if the room is used morning and evening. We say honestly at the visit which fabrics we would not put on a south-facing sea view.
Newer Folkestone homes tend to have UPVC frames, tilt-and-turn openings and a move-in deadline. Every window is measured by the same people who will fit it. We check the reveal at several heights, note obstructions such as handles, trickle vents and tiled returns, and decide then whether the product sits inside the recess or on the face of the wall.
Standard blind ranges are usually fitted within two to three weeks. Specialist fabrics, conservatory systems and Luxaflex products take a little longer, and shutters typically run six to ten weeks depending on the range and any shaping. If you are left overlooked in the meantime, we can provide temporary blinds.
Our own fitters install everything, not a subcontracted crew, and the house is left clean.
