Vision and zebra blinds
Day and night blinds, made to measure
Day and night blinds use two layers of sheer and solid fabric bands to adjust the view, daylight and privacy without lifting the whole blind. Also called zebra or vision blinds, they are a supply-and-fit choice for rooms where you want more flexibility than one sheet of roller fabric. We measure your window at a free home consultation and our own team installs the finished blind.
Choose this style for filtered light rather than complete darkness. The overlapping fabric bands do not make a standard day and night blind a blackout product. If you need a dark bedroom, ask to compare a blackout roller alongside it before ordering.

Make the fabric choice in the room
The stripes remain part of the appearance even when the blind is open. Start with how prominent you want that pattern to be: a subtle tonal fabric can sit quietly beside existing furnishings, while a contrast between the bands makes the blind a feature. Look at the sample both against the glass and away from it, because transmitted daylight changes the colour you see.
Ask to see the bands in several positions, not only completely open or closed. The intermediate settings are the reason to choose this mechanism. Your preferred setting may be the one that screens a pavement view while allowing enough daylight for reading or working, rather than the position that looks best on a sample board.
Decide which window needs adjustable privacy
A living room facing other windows, a dining area or a home office can benefit from a covering that remains lowered while the fabric alignment changes. Describe where you sit and which direction you want to screen. Privacy is a viewing-angle question as well as a fabric question, so consider the room after dark when its lights are on.
There is no need to select this blind for every room just to keep the house coordinated. You might choose it for a front-facing living space and a plain blackout roller for a bedroom. Compare colour families across those products, while allowing the practical task at each window to determine the mechanism.
Specify the position and control before ordering
We check the width, drop and fitting position, including handles and the space above the opening. A recess fit keeps the blind within the reveal; a face-fixed arrangement places it in front. Neither should be assumed from a rough overall width, especially if nearby furniture or an opening sash affects how the blind will be used.
Side-chain, cordless spring and motorised choices depend on the selected system. Discuss the control you can comfortably reach and use, and tell us if children use the room. We then match the product choice to the measured opening, rather than leaving the control and position as decisions to make after manufacture.
From your shortlist to a fitted blind
You can begin at the Hythe High Street showroom or arrange the home consultation directly. The visit includes measuring and a discussion of fabrics in your own light, followed by a written quote. Our family-run business serves East Kent excluding Thanet, and fitting is carried out by our own team. Blinds are usually fitted in 2 to 3 weeks after ordering; the timing for your selection is confirmed when you choose.
If you are still learning how the layers work, the separate day and night explainer covers the mechanism. This page is for turning that understanding into a product specification: the fabric effect, suitable control, exact size and position that you want supplied and fitted.
