Solving the reach problem

There are three practical answers and we specify all three depending on the stairwell.

• Motorised roller or pleated blind — remote or app operated, our most common recommendation for stairwells
• Pole-operated Venetian or pleated — a detachable wand reaches from the landing
• Fixed shutter panels with tilt-only operation — set once, no daily handling
• Static privacy solution such as a bottom-up blind, left permanently in place

Privacy up the stairs

Terraced and semi-detached Kent houses frequently have a landing window that looks straight into the neighbour's landing. A bottom-up blind or a café-height shutter blocks the sightline exactly where it matters and leaves the top of the window clear.

Because the window is rarely opened, this can be set once and forgotten.

Fitting safely above a staircase

Our fitters carry proper stair-safe access equipment rather than balancing a ladder on a step. If we cannot access a window safely we will say so at survey and propose an alternative approach.

Where the window is exceptionally high, motorised removes the need for anyone to reach it again.
