Configurations for a circle

The louvre layout changes the character of the window completely.

• Full sunburst — louvres radiating from the centre, purely decorative
• Horizontal louvres within a circular frame — reads calmer, can be operable
• Half-and-half — a hinged lower semicircle with a fixed top
• Solid circular panel — full blackout for a bedroom porthole

Templating a round opening

We template the circle on site because plaster reveals are rarely a true circle. The template also captures the depth available, which decides whether the shutter can sit inside the reveal or must face-fit.

Where they need to work, not just look good

A porthole in a bedroom or bathroom needs to close for privacy, which means an operable or solid panel. A gable-end circle three metres up is decorative and a fixed panel is the sensible spend.
