Cost guide

How much do plantation shutters cost in Kent?

Shutter pricing is driven by three things almost nobody mentions online: the material the panels are built from, how many panels the opening needs, and whether the window is square. A wide bedroom window in one clean run costs far less per square metre than the same area chopped into four narrow panels around a bay.

We quote in writing after measuring, never over the phone from a rough size, because a guess that is 15 per cent out helps nobody. What follows is the honest shape of the numbers so you know whether to keep reading or stop here.

What moves the price up and down

Engineered MDF ranges sit at the affordable end and are perfectly good in a dry bedroom or study. Poplar hardwood costs more and is the sensible choice anywhere the panel has to stay dead straight over a tall opening. ABS waterproof ranges cost more again and are the only thing we will fit above a bath or in a wet room.

Louvre size changes the look more than the cost: 63mm suits smaller cottage windows, 76mm is our most requested, and 89mm gives the cleanest view out on large glazing. Hidden tilt rods, RAL colour matching and motorised louvre control each add to the panel price rather than the frame price.

  • Number of panels matters more than total width. Fewer, wider panels usually cost less.
  • Out of square openings need a compensating frame, which adds materials and survey time.
  • Special shapes, arches and angles are priced individually because each one is templated.
  • Every shutter carries the lifetime product guarantee, with 5 years on our installation.

Cost by window size and room

A standard bedroom window taking two full height panels is the cheapest real world job we do. A living room bay of three or five openings is typically the largest single line on a quote, because each aperture is measured, framed and hung separately.

Kitchens and bathrooms tend to sit in the middle: the windows are smaller, but the waterproof range costs more per square metre. Tier on tier costs more than full height because you are effectively building two shutters in one frame, and cafe style costs least because it only dresses the lower half.

Why we quote after measuring, not before

Two houses on the same street can differ by hundreds of pounds because one has original timber reveals with 20mm of settlement and the other has a modern plastered return. That is not a sales tactic, it is joinery.

The home consultation is free, includes expert measuring, and you keep the written quote whether you order or not. There is no deposit to book it and no obligation attached to it.
